Position :: Sr. Software Engineer

Experience :: 3 - 6 Years

Qualification :: B.E. / B.Tech / MCA

Role Description
The individual must possess strong programming and technical skills and be capable of producing high quality, evolvable and maintainable software within agreed timelines. The individual must be capable of working effectively with a team but also be capable of working independently with minimal supervision. The individual must be capable of providing a range of experience and sound advice to the project and team. The individual must be capable of becoming a specialist in a particular area of software and take overall responsibility of it.

Responsibilities

Software Quality
• The individual will be responsible for producing the appropriate design documents and implementing software solutions that will fully compliant to the technical specifications as defined by the system engineering team.
• The individual will strive to create a highly cohesive and modular product that ultimately lowers the cost of adding new functionality to it.
• The individual should possess strong problem analysis / solving abilities.
• The individual will have a keen insight into new technology and how it may benefit or affect the existing software.
• The individual will be capable of performing software walkthrough’s to educate and encourage Software Engineers into building high quality software and understanding new design decisions and principals.

Project Management Quality
• The individual will be capable of effectively communicating ideas, status updates and issues both verbally and in written form
• The individual will be capable of planning and estimating the timeframe of deliverables that they or their team will produce.
• The individual will be capable of following the relevant software processes.
• The individual will be capable of proactively identifying and managing risk to assist in timely delivery.

Capabilities
• Strong C with System Programming on Unix
• Knowledge of TCP/IP
• Work experience on Algorithms
• Work experience implementing and using Data Structures (Linked Lists, Stacks, Trees, Searching Algorithms) (Mandatory)
o Experience of analyzing technical requirements (Mandatory)
o Capable of creating detailed design specifications (Mandatory)
o Search and Data-Mining Algorithms (Highly desirable)
o Exposure of C++ OO programming knowledge (Highly Desirable)
o Scripting, Security and Auditing (Highly desirable)
o SOA experience (Highly desirable)
o Experience of Agile Development (Highly desirable)
o UNIX / LINUX Kernel knowledge (Desirable)
o Knowledge of SQL-based relational database (Desirable)
o Multi-core and parallel programming experience (Desirable)
• Experience of working with carrier grade software project (Desirable)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong technical ability using a variety of technologies.
• Capable of identifying areas for improvement of existing software
• Capable of multitasking and handling load under pressure.
• Capable of estimating tasks using agile / scrum methodology
• Telecom background is highly desirable
